Water is What We're Mostly Made Of

    - Between 68 and 70% of our body is made of water. Someone who weighs 50 kilograms, has 34 to 35 litres of water in them. This water constantly moves in and out of all our tissues, even our bones. It is carried by blood to the kidneys to be cleaned and recleaned. Our kidneys process 151 litres of water a day, recycling 98% of the water back to the blood to keep our tissues balanced at exactly the right concentration. Two percent of the water is removed from the system by the kidneys to discharge wastes - especially ammonia - as urine. We must replace this lost water with at least 2.6 litres of new water per day. Depending on how hard we are working and how hot it is, we need to drink another litre or two, to replace water lost in sweat, tears, and in the breath.

    - The atomic elements that make up the living tissues of plants and animals (and people) are the same as those found in sea water. The atoms are the same atoms that have been here since our planet was formed, they are now moving in new relationships.
