Our planet's oceans, underground reservoirs, lakes, rivers, glaciers, and atmosphere contain about 1,387,400,000 cubic kilometres of water. About 97.3% of this is to be found as salt water in the oceans.
Liquid fresh water is only 0.014% of the total. The rest is mostly found underground (0.6%), or as polar ice (2.1%). The atmosphere only holds 0.001% of the total water on earth.
